My name is Tia Green, formerly Tia Capozza. I grew up watching my father and mother work alongside one another and I never thought it was strange that they went to and came home from the same office every day. It wasn’t until I started going to school that I realized not everyone’s parents all work in the same building. To me, everyone in the building was family. Many of our employees have known me since I was young; I’ve always wanted to make them proud of the hard working person that I have become.
I graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 2009 with a degree in Communications. During college, I took interest in the non-profits that Capozza Tile Company aligned and interned at the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital’s Development office. After college, I gravitated toward my comfort area of expertise and briefly took a job in Massachusetts at another flooring store. I moved back to Portland within a few short months of my first niece being born, since family has always been at the root of my decision making.
I enjoy flooring; it is always evolving, interesting, fun. I love to see a project from start to finish. My zest for the industry has been paired with my love for working with my family and our team. Since coming on board at Capozza in May of 2011, I have worked alongside team members that are proud when someone asks them if they are a member of the family. To me, it’s always been a reason to work harder and to prove myself because my last name is on the door. I once asked my grandfather who was the best person to work FOR him and he said they all worked WITH me, not FOR me. That’s a lesson that I will always keep in mind as our company grows.
The Warehouse is the hub of operations for all four of the Capozza Tile Co. divisions. Product and materials for every job is handled by our dedicated warehouse division’s staff. I joined the Capozza team in August of 2010. My history in wholesale, attention to detail, organization, and multitasking made me the perfect fit for this operation. Our experienced team coordinates the commercial installation crews at 6:00 in the morning and quickly transition into receiving and customer relations throughout the remainder of the day. As a warehouse team, we strive for excellence. We are dedicated to customer service through attention to detail, respecting all individuals, teamwork, follow through, and having a little fun.
I joined the then two-man staff of Old Port Specialty Tile Co. in 2003 to take on general office duties and greeting of clients. As Office Assistant I quickly learned that this was much more than a tile store. I love to talk with the clients and get to know who they are, and not just what their tiling needs may be.
Over the years I have forged many relationships with repeat clientele, subcontractors and vendors to create open communication with ongoing jobs. I co-managed the Old Port store for more than ten years before stepping into a corporate roll for the company as a whole. I now serve as a conduit between all divisions of Capozza; our Residential and Commercial Divisions at Capozza Tile and Floor Covering Center, Old Port Specialty Tile, and Capozza Concrete Services. Branding the company, leading the Public Relations and Philanthropy Campaigns, and partnering in our Leadership Team are my main focus.
My commitment to our mission and vision as well as to the community, drives me to want to promote the company as one united team that can assist you with all of your flooring needs.
