To help ensure the health, happiness and longevity of your hardwood flooring, here are some recommendations Capozza Flooring Center has for its proper care and maintenance:
Sweep and/or vacuum twice a week using a soft-bristle brush, broom or felt vacuum.
Using felt floor protectors on all furniture legs will protect your floor from scratches.
As hardwood is a natural product that will expand and contract year-round with changes in humidity, levels should be consistently maintained at 35% -55% year-round in your home.Changes in moisture will cause shrinking and swelling, and will result in cupping, cracking, and gapping in your wood flooring. Use of humidifiers and dehumidifiers will ensure these levels are consistent.
Temperature in your home should be consistently maintained at 60-75 ° year-round as extreme temperatures changes can also cause cupping, cracking, and gapping in your wood flooring.
Spills should be wiped up promptly with a soft cloth as they happen to avoid staining and/or damage.
The use of cleaners, such as oil soap, pine soap, lemon oil, chlorine bleach and/or ammonia-based cleaners, are not recommended as they will change your floor finish.
