In 2024, Capozza Floor Covering Center, a Family-Owned and operated business, proudly celebrated its 50th anniversary, signifying five decades of delivering top-notch flooring solutions and exceptional service throughout the state of Maine.
In the humble beginnings of 1974, Joseph A. “Buddy” Capozza laid the foundation for Capozza Tile Co Inc. in the basement of his home. With two decades of experience, passion, and determination, Buddy with his wife Doris embarked on the journey of creating their own flooring installation business. In 1976 Joseph F. Capozza joined his father, working alongside him laying tiles, and even more importantly laying the foundation for success team driven growth. In 1988 Joe’s wife Jeanne joined Capozza Tile & Floor Covering Center, as it was then known, focusing on the office and administrative duties. Over the course of the last fifty years, three generations have nurtured and transformed the small basement shop into Capozza Floor Covering Center, encompassing Commercial, Residential, and Concrete + Epoxy Divisions, and Old Port Specialty Tile Co.
The dedicated team behind Capozza Floor Covering Center has established a reputation synonymous with quality, innovation, and customer satisfaction. Offering a diverse range of flooring options, including hardwood, carpet, tile, vinyl, epoxy, polished concrete and more, the company has been a trusted partner for homeowners, businesses, and contractors alike. Now, in its third generation of leadership, Joe Capozza III serves as President, joined by Vice-Presidents Katie Capozza and Tia (Capozza) Green. The three may not have always known this would be their careers, as their parents Joe and Jeanne encouraged them to follow their own dreams, but they each admit that it’s where they belong as they have found their place in continuing the family legacy. Each brings unique experiences, knowledge, and personalities to the Ownership Team, working cohesively toward their shared goals and mission. Like their parents and grandparents before them, they are committed to sustained growth based on quality, integrity, and compassion. The company’s expansions have been driven by their belief in and investment in their team, recognizing them as an extended family.

As part of our 50th-anniversary celebrations, we aimed to give back to our community in a meaningful way. With the incredible support of our team and long-standing industry partners, we held a fundraiser and proudly raised $63,041.84 for the MaineHealth Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital and the Maine Children’s Cancer Program.
Compassion was a core value for Buddy, and it continues to guide the Capozza culture today. We are deeply grateful for the trust and loyalty of those who helped us achieve this milestone. This celebration not only honored our legacy but also inspires us to continue making a difference in the years ahead.
